How to get the NFT job of your dreams

If you’re looking for a new challenge in tech, it’s well worth taking a look at the NFT space.

Nonfungible tokens have been the big success story of the cryptocurrency market in

2021, generating over $2.5 billion in digital asset sales in the first half of the year alone.  Demand for crypto and blockchain specialists has rocketed, along with a need for product managers responsible for advancing the market with NFT and other crypto products.

Now seems to be a great time to break into the NFT space, but how do you get started? Here’s a quick look at what you need to build your career as a digital asset specialist, whether you’re pivoting from another role or starting from scratch.

Read everything you can

NFTs are new, so no one can truly say they are an expert yet. But the market is changing and advancing at an incredibly fast pace, so it’s critical to keep up to speed. One of the best ways to impress the employer of your dreams is to stay informed, reading everything you can and demonstrating genuine enthusiasm for the subject.

Put the research time in, and you can hopefully establish yourself as an expert in the field. It’s all about getting your name out there as someone who’d be a valuable addition to a company’s network in the future.

Map out the key players and pick your role models

Searching for NFT jobs is a good start, but you’re likely to face stiff competition. This is why it’s a smart idea to familiarise yourself with the key players in the industry, from established names like the world’s first and biggest NFT marketplace OpenSea, right through to new adopters like social media platform Reddit – which is reportedly launching its own NFT marketplace platform.

Another way to break into the industry is to see how others did it. Identify the ground breakers, and compare their academic background, skills and professional experience with yours. If you’re able to follow their path, you’ll be better prepared for a role in the NFT space.

Join communities

Just like any job hunt, finding and landing an amazing NFT role often relies on professional networking. Whether it’s NFT artists and creators, or platforms and marketplaces, you can pick up a lot from developing these crucial relationships. You can build your network and get yourself known, find out more about emerging NFT projects and get advice to advance your career.

Be ready to dive right in

Many companies are looking for hands-on NFT developers, to encode assets as smart contracts on the blockchain. Whether its programming or other developer skills, it’s well worth working on practice projects to demonstrate to employers that you’re ready to hit the ground running.
